TMJ Treatment
What exactly is TMJ? TMJ is actually the name of a joint and not the name of a condition or disease at all. The TMJ joint is the joint that connects your lower jaw to the base of your skull. Every time you talk, chew, yawn, drink, or anything else your mouth is capable of doing, you are using this joint. Many factors such as age, injury, or disease can cause this joint to malfunction.
Some of the symptoms of a malfunctioning TMJ are as follows:
- Pain
- Limited movement of the lower jaw
- Clicking sounds
- Muscle spasms
- Locking of the jaw
TMJ problems are fixable and you do not need to lead a life of pain and discomfort. The ways to fix TMJ disorder are as varied as the things that cause them.
Best thing to do is to come in for an exam and discuss what may be the cause of your discomfort and what may be the solution.
